Women Act is a non-profit non-partisan organization that aims at empowering women in fulfilling their political, social, cultural and economic potential by generating knowledge, providing training and connecting with the civil society.
Mission
We are committed to empower women to fully embrace their political, social, cultural and economic potential by actively participating in the public sphere. We support equal opportunities for all, women and men alike, and we promote women as leaders and agents of change. To this respect, we offer an adequate set of tools that helps women develop their capacities and sensitizes public opinion on gender equality issues.
Vision
We strive for a world where the UN goal of “Planet 50-50 by 2030” will become a reality; a world where women equally participate in public life and become the leaders of change, progress and social evolution.
Goals
1. We motivate women to embrace their full potential by claiming leadership positions in all professional fields. We work for equality of access for women and full participation in power structures and decision-making.
2. We strive for greater equality of women and men in political life. We seek equal representation and participation in public life, including Parliament, local and regional authorities.
3. We raise awareness on gender issues in public life. We work with young generations, men and women alike, to tackle all forms of discrimination against women.
4. We promote gender mainstreaming and we aspire to a society that prioritizes gender equality.
History
Women Act was created in 2017 and it represents the incarnation of a group of women’s lifelong hope and aspiration for a truly equal society. Women act is not just an ordinary grass-roots organization. It is more than that. It is based on bonds of friendship linking different women who share common experiences and who are inspired by common values. Women under-representation in decision-making and power structures is striking. We believe that equality of men and women in political life is precondition for the full realisation of democracy. As Mary Wollstonecraft elegantly put it: “virtue can only flourish among equals”. We believe in equality. We strive for equality.
